About Linda
Math education is my career - I have been a full-time tutor since 1997. I graduated from the University of Toronto, first with a bachelor's degree in mathematics, and then with a bachelor's degree in mathematics education – secondary level. I am certified to teach in Ontario, Canada, but I have chosen to do private tutoring only (in South Florida) for the last 27 years. I much prefer teaching one on one because I find it is more effective, efficient, and flexible for the student.

Does being ‘good at math’ make someone a good teacher? Are you really learning if you are just watching someone else do the problems? That’s where I come in. I teach with a focus on understanding, not memorizing. Let me show you how to really *know* math by understanding the logic of it! Here is a general example, followed by a specific example:
Q: Why did you do that step?
a) Because my teacher said to.
b) Because I *knew* it made sense.
Choice (b) is correct!
Q: How do you find the midpoint of a segment?
a) Maybe it’s that square root formula, or the one where you add and divide by 2, … or was it subtract?? Wait, y = mx+b! Right?
b) I *know* that the midpoint is at the middle. The middle of two numbers is found by finding their average. To find the average of two numbers, I will add them, then divide by 2. So I *know* that I should do: (x1 + x2) / 2 and (y1 + y2) / 2. Since I *know* this, I will *never* confuse this with the distance formula, the slope formula, or anything else!
Choice (b) is correct!
Do you ‘get’ where I am going with this? I thought so!
How about you and I get started sorting it all out, so that you don't have to memorize anymore? Seriously, ask me 'why' about EVERY LITTLE THING and I will give you a logical, real reason. Your retention will increase, your study time will decrease, and the next topic you learn will make sense more quickly. It's a win-win!
Maybe you want to prep for the SAT or ACT Math sections. Let’s talk about that graphing calculator you may have. Is it the TI-84 Plus? Join the club! Let me show you how to make it WORK FOR YOU on standardized tests such as the SAT and ACT! I am an expert at using this calculator and I’ve written 40+ programs for it. Along with all the helpful built-in functions you may not know about, there are many, many apps and programs available to help you do problems quickly, accurately, and easily. Yes, you can use them on the SAT and ACT! My test prep tutoring methods heavily rely on efficient use of the TI-84 Plus calculator, because: (1) The BEST way to get the answer quickly is often not the way that would make your Algebra teacher proud. (2) It gives you backup methods to get the right answer, when you "don't remember how"!
My online tutoring platform uses a video call with a shared online whiteboard that both you and I can edit. The whiteboard is available to work on before and after the lesson, too.
Please contact me for your free first lesson!
Looking forward to working with you!

My daughter went to Linda for years for math tutoring - all the way through AP Calculus. She scored a 5 which she was very happy about. I would not hesitate to hire Linda again if my other children need it. I have given her information to some of my friends too, for their children. She is very experienced and it shows.
As a 25-year educator of college-bound seniors, I can say that Linda comes highly recommended. She has been a terrific resource for many students, helping them attain noticeable improvements on both ACT and SAT math scores. Her patience, personability, and fluency in explaining challenging concepts like Calculus in understandable terms makes her a top choice. She’s been a tutor for over 20 years and has a wealth of knowledge and experience in helping students “get math.”
Linda is an amazing math tutor! She is highly skilled and very knowledgeable. She is patient and makes sure her students actually understand the material. There are tutors out there that help with homework and then there are tutors like Linda who take the time to help students make connections with the content and skills.
