About Dhruv

Hi, I'm Dhruv (you can call me D!) Nice to meet ya!

3D Art and Design has been my bread and butter for about 17 years, mainly in Autodesk Maya, with experience both in the entertainment industry and in the classrooms across universities. I’m essentially a Generalist educator, which means my work includes a lot of different overlapping disciplines. That includes 3D Modeling and Animation, Game Level Design, UI and UX design, Image Manipulation, Video Editing, Motion Graphics, etc.

I’ve worked in a range of studios over the years, so I have a solid understanding of how real production pipelines function. However, for the past 4+ years, I’ve been focused on teaching at the university level, helping future artists and designers like yourself build strong foundations and practical, job-ready skills! I’ve helped set up and grow creative departments at a few institutions, turning them into hands-on, skills-focused programs with exciting learning opportunities. I’m passionate about making complex topics approachable and helping students gain both confidence and competency that translates into real technical prowess!

About the lesson

My teaching pedagogy is based on imparting innate understanding of why things work the way they do. With me, you can expect to learn the ins and outs of Maya so you can work your way around 3D projects of all stripes. I have taught hundreds of students from all backgrounds with varying different skill levels, and I make it a point to tailor lesson plans depending on their requirements. Whether you're just starting out with absolutely no knowledge of 3D or you're already familiar with Maya but feel stuck with a particular issue that needs troubleshooting - I will guide you to your desired outcome. My teaching style primarily focuses on relatable examples, practical demonstrations, equivalent analogies, hands-on experimentation and a scientific temperament with a thorough focus on the technical whys and hows so you can understand the modus operandi and the functioning principles behind each process and technique which would help equip you for any challenges you might face.
