About Rafal

Hi there! I am a recent University of St Andrews (in Scotland) graduate of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and a US High School graduate. I also have a BA in English from a private college in Poland. Teaching has always been an important part of my life. Even when I was still in Middle School, dreaming of becoming a world-class football player, I voluntarily engaged myself in helping others to learn, assisting them in homework and studying after classes. Overtime, I moved on to tutoring and teaching in schools professionally. I found it can be very rewarding, especially when you manage to get through to your students and see the understanding in their faces. I was lucky enough to experience that while teaching in multiple language schools in Poland. While all these schools had different approaches to teaching, from using Direct Method and focusing on speaking and listening to tailoring the programme to the needs of individual students, I think I managed to gain a lot of valuable experience in each of these environments. About the lesson

I have an individual approach to teaching, designing the lessons based on your needs and preferences, be that grammar, vocabulary, writing or speaking. I have used a variety of methods while tutoring and teaching at language schools in Poland and now in the UK, including the Direct Method, and I try incorporate bits and pieces of those methods while designing an individual lesson plan for each of my students. In my 15 years of teaching, I usually recommend 60-minute lessons, but again, I tailor everything to my students, so longer lessons or 45-minute lessons are also an option, as well as small group lessons. I am happy to teach students on any level, from complete beginners to advanced speakers, with a focus on adult, young adult, and teenage learners. Nonetheless, I have experience of teaching children and I'm always happy to work with them.
