About Oliver

My name is Oliver and I'm a second-year university student studying Advanced Spanish and German at the University of Bath.
Studying languages is a core part of my academic interests, and I have a wealth of experience in language learning, especially at a higher education level.

Having studied Spanish for a decade, Latin for half a decade, French for 3 years, German for two years, and teaching myself a little Polish, Arabic and Swahili, I understand that the core part of learning a language is rooted in your enjoyment of it.

My classes will always be personalised and focused on my learner's needs, since I understand how important it is that the student gets every opportunity take language learning
into their own hands and develop independently.

I understand how to break through the barriers that block major growth in languages, and with my help the students I teach will see a significant improvement in their Spanish language ability.

About the lesson

In my lessons, I focus on the student's participation and enjoyment. Grammar and language points can be easily taught when you're excited to learn them.

I've learned a lot about grammar rules and how textbooks and teachers can vastly over-complicate them, so my lessons focus on a simpler approach to learning grammar, through drilling and plenty of fun activities.

Lessons typically last an hour. Any more than that can cause student participation and engagement to decline.
Each lesson is personalised for the student's individual needs, with the first lesson being free, and spent on determining the individual learner's level and needs.

I received a 9 in my Spanish GCSE, an A in my A-levels, and I recently passed a C1 Spanish entrance exam so that I can study at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, the third highest ranking university in Spain, for my approaching year abroad. I'm currently studying Spanish along with German at the University of Bath.

I've tutored for a couple of years in person, but got my first teaching experience when I was 16 and volunteered to teach Spanish in a primary school where there were no Spanish classes available.

To confirm, my classes are for GCSE and A-level Spanish students.
