About Rachel

My name is Rachel, and I am currently studying Physics at the University of Bristol. I have always been passionate about Maths and Physics because I enjoy understanding how things work and solving challenging problems. Choosing to study Physics at university has strengthened both my subject knowledge and my ability to think logically and analytically.

I studied A-Level Maths, Physics, and Chemistry, which has given me a strong and well-rounded foundation across the sciences. These subjects complement each other closely, and this allows me to help students see the links between mathematical methods and scientific ideas, making topics easier to understand.

I want to tutor because I know from experience how difficult these subjects can feel at times. I have also seen how the right explanation can completely change someone’s confidence and understanding. Being able to support students through those moments — when something finally clicks — is incredibly rewarding to me.

As someone who has recently completed GCSEs and A-Levels myself, I understand the pressures students face and the strategies that genuinely make a difference in exams. I want to help students not only improve their grades, but also feel more confident and capable in their abilities.

For me, tutoring is about more than just teaching content. It is about building confidence and helping students realise that they are capable of achieving more than they think.

Hi, I’m Rachel, a Physics undergraduate at the University of Bristol, and I’m passionate about helping students gain confidence and clarity in Maths and Physics.

My Approach & Teaching Methodology
My teaching focuses on building deep understanding rather than memorising formulae. I break complex topics down into clear, manageable steps and use worked examples to show students exactly how to approach different types of questions. I guide students through problems first, then gradually encourage independent problem-solving to strengthen confidence and exam technique.

I tailor every lesson to the individual student — whether they need help catching up on core concepts, reinforcing classwork, or pushing towards top grades. I also place strong emphasis on exam practice, helping students recognise patterns in questions and avoid common mistakes.

Lesson Structure & Length
Typical lessons are 60 minutes, although 90-minute sessions are available for older students or those preparing for exams. A standard lesson includes:

Quick review of previous material

Clear explanation of a focused topic

Guided practice questions

Independent exam-style questions with feedback

Qualifications & Experience
As a current Physics undergraduate, I use Maths and Physics daily at an advanced level, giving me strong subject knowledge that is fresh and relevant. Having recently completed A-levels myself, I understand exam board expectations and effective revision strategies.

Who My Lessons Are For
My lessons are ideal for:

GCSE Maths and Physics students

A-Level Maths and Physics students

Students aged 14–18 preparing for exams or aiming to improve confidence and grades
