About Laura
I have worked in tutoring centers for years, and before that, I was sought out by teachers to tutor my peers.
I thoroughly enjoy teaching and seeing the “Aha!” moment when whatever a student struggled with clicks into place.
My passion, talent, and communication skills are the things that got me into my current program (College of Creative Studies at UCSB). My program is extremely research oriented and is referred to as “graduate school for undergraduates”. This is why the ability to effectively communicate complex mathematical and logical concepts are imperative in my program.
As for my personal life, I love being outside (hiking, camping, biking, enjoying the beach). I also enjoy fantasy (LotR, Marvel, etc.), and music festivals.

My flexible teaching style allows me to meet students where they are. If a student simply needs a nudge in the right direction, I give just enough information for them to come to the answer themselves. Or if there are gaps in the foundation of their knowledge, I diagnose the problem, and we can fill in the gaps!
I am exceptionally patient, and was often assigned to work with students who became easily frustrated, or have learning disabilities.
I am enthusiastic about my subjects, and I am excited to share my knowledge!
