About James
My path to music wasn't traditional. Before studying classical guitar at the university level, I served six years in the U.S. Navy. When I began learning classical guitar, I was a complete beginner, so I understand the excitement, challenges, and occasional frustration that come with starting from scratch. That experience has shaped how I teach; I emphasize patience, encouragement, and realistic expectations. Today, I'm pursuing a degree in Guitar Performance and Music Education, where I'm developing both my performance skills and effective teaching methods. Whether your goal is to learn your first notes, improve your technique, or develop a lifelong appreciation for music, I'll help you progress one step at a time in a supportive and structured environment.

As a university classical guitar student pursuing a degree in Music Education, I combine performance training with proven teaching methods to help students make steady progress. We'll focus on proper technique, posture, tone production, music reading, rhythm, and musical expression in a supportive, encouraging environment. My goal is not only to help you play the guitar, but to build the skills and confidence to enjoy music for years to come.
