About Umar
I am a 19-year-old Malaysian currently studying economics at the University of Nottingham Malaysia. Prior to this, I studied at Kolej Yayasan UEM for my A-Levels and the International School of Penang Uplands for my IGCSE's. I achieved 8A's for my IGCSE and 3A's for my A-Levels. I choose economics as a subject for both levels of studies.
I personally was a slow learner to start with. I had many troubles grasping the many concepts in economics because it was explained in a difficult to understand method. Therefore, I underwent a task to "self study" the syllabus and changed my grades from a C to an A. In addition, I also believe that essay writing and structure is crucial in obtaining a good score for economics and is something that I am very strong in. I took both history and economics at A-Levels (both subjects have very demanding essays) and am therefore familiar with how to write and structure a quality essay.

I personally believe that many students struggle to cope with and understand concepts in class because teachers love to adopt a "one size fits all" approach. I, however, believe that tutors should be familiar with students on a personal as well as professional level so interaction between the two parties is clear and understood. This enables a comfortable learning environment for the student and leads to a greater chance of them succeeding at an academic level.
I am a first-year university student studying economics at Nottingham Malaysia. I undertook economics both at IGCSE and A-Levels (scoring an A both times). I went to the international school of Penang Uplands from 2007-2018, followed by pursuing my A-Levels at Kolej Yayasan UEM (KYUEM) from 2019-2020.
I have provided tutoring services at an amateur level to different friends and family previously. I am also very patient and understanding that students may not learn well in a particular manner, and am dynamic enough to change my teaching methodology if I feel they could understand the content better.
Currently, I am based in Penang and attend university online. I would be open to both online and face to face classes.
