About Tom

With over five years of tutoring experience, I specialise in GCSE and National 5, as well as A Level and Higher Economics. I am currently studying Economics at The University of Edinburgh, combining strong subject knowledge with a clear, supportive teaching style to help students build confidence and achieve their academic goals.

I achieved three A* grades at A Level and I am passionate about making Economics engaging, accessible, and relevant to the real world. My lessons are well-structured and focused on developing genuine understanding, strong analytical and evaluation skills, and effective exam technique.

All tuition is delivered online via Microsoft Teams and is carefully tailored to each student’s individual needs. This may include targeted exam preparation, strengthening understanding of core economic theory, improving essay structure and data response technique, or stretching students beyond the curriculum to support top-grade ambitions.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach is structured, supportive, and tailored to each student’s individual needs. I begin by identifying strengths and areas for improvement so lessons are focused, efficient, and effective from the outset.
I focus on building a strong understanding of core economic concepts alongside developing analytical thinking, data interpretation, and exam technique. Complex topics are broken down into manageable sections, with lessons supported by real-world examples, diagrams, exam-style questions, and past papers to build confidence and familiarity with mark schemes.

I aim to create a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing their understanding at their own pace. Regular feedback and targeted practice help students track progress and steadily improve both confidence and performance.

All lessons are delivered online via Microsoft Teams, with teaching adapted to suit each student’s learning style, exam board, and academic goals.
