About Harshwardhan
I recently graduated in Mathematical Physics from the University of Edinburgh and have always been someone who enjoys understanding things properly rather than rushing through them. During my degree I often found myself helping classmates work through difficult ideas, and I realised quite quickly that I naturally enjoy explaining things in a way that feels straightforward and reassuring.
I’ve always been passionate about learning, academic research in areas of mathematical physics and pure mathematics taught me how important it is to break big ideas into smaller, manageable pieces. That experience shapes how I tutor now: I stay calm, pay attention to how a student is thinking, and rebuild the idea from the ground up until it makes sense to them.
As a person I’m patient, organised and easy to communicate with. I never assume anything is obvious, and I take the time to make sure students feel comfortable asking questions. Whether someone is aiming for top grades or just trying to get their confidence back, my focus is always on helping them make steady, real progress at a pace that works for them.
I’m based in West Hampstead and work with students from GCSE up to first-year university level, both online and in person.

I teach Maths and Physics in a clear, structured and exam-focused way.
My lessons break difficult ideas into simple, logical steps so students understand not only what to do, but why the method works. I focus on identifying gaps quickly, reinforcing key methods, and building the exam technique that leads to confident, accurate performance.
Alongside my degree, through my work I have had exposure to advanced areas of mathematical physics, including research in quantum gravity during my undergrad. In my recommendation from the University of Edinburgh, my ability to teach myself highly abstract concepts and then explain them clearly was highlighted as an exceptional strength. This depth of study trained me to take even very difficult ideas and present them in simple, structured steps that students find easy to follow.
A typical 60-minute lesson includes:
a short diagnostic to identify the exact point of confusion
a clear, intuitive explanation tailored to the student’s level
step-by-step worked examples
exam-style questions to build accuracy and confidence
concise methods that students can revise independently

A-Level Maths, Further Maths and Physics
IB Maths AA/AI (SL & HL) and IB Physics (SL & HL)
First-year university Maths/Physics (calculus, linear algebra, mechanics, waves)
My approach is calm, patient and highly organised. I adapt explanations to each student’s learning style and prioritise understanding and exam technique over memorisation. My lessons are suitable for students aged 13+ through to university level, and I work both online and in person in West Hampstead
