About Brendan
I started giving lessons a few years ago, I then took a break for a while to focus on my university work. However, I miss helping others enjoy maths so I am looking to forward to tutoring again.
I used to do a lot of one-off sessions and occasionally group sessions. I had one long-term student that needed help with maths entrance exams for secondary school. She wasn't a fan of maths but we worked together and she started to enjoy it, she did very well in her entrance exams and got into her school of choice. I continued to help her with maths for a couple of months into her first year of secondary school right up until she made it into the top set for maths!

I am currently a student at the University of Portsmouth in the final year of my Batchelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. I give lessons to all school pupils interested in improving or furthering their maths skills.
I like to stay close to the curriculum of my students and help with homework and provide some additional questions and examples for them.
General lesson would be taking a look at the homework together and going over what student understands to be the task. Then letting student attempt work on their own, when a student does not fully understand a section I will input advice and give an example of what I mean. If the student still does not fully grasp concept then we will work through an example together. To finish I will leave the student with a few extra questions and examples to attempt on their own and we will go through them together next lesson.
I am excited and passionate about maths and I enjoy teaching others and getting them to feel the same about maths. I like to use easy and fun ways to remember key principles so that future problems can be solved with ease and enjoyment.
