About Jack
Hi, I’m Jack! I’m a second-year Astrophysics student at the University of Leeds. I achieved A grades in A-level Maths and Physics and a 79% overall average in my first year at university.
These subjects really haven’t always come easily to me. I often needed more time to grasp a concept than a busy classroom allowed, and textbook explanations often didn’t make sense straight away. Finding different ways to understand things (especially through every day analogies - I think these are an incredible tool) really helped me develop both my confidence and a love for these subjects. It's great to be able to step back and stop looking at the concept as strictly Maths or Physics.
I want to tutor because I know how much difference it can make to have someone listen to your questions and take the time to explain things in a way that makes sense to you. My aim is to be patient, approachable and encouraging, so you feel comfortable asking questions—even the ones you might hesitate to ask in class.
Outside of my degree, I love playing guitar, singing, writing and recording music, musical theatre and learning Spanish. Creativity is a huge part of who I am as a person, and I enjoy bringing that side of me into maths and physics too!

Hi! I offer online Physics and Maths tutoring for GCSE students. My approach to teaching is the same one I use in my own studies: start by understanding what’s happening and why, then build a method for solving the problem.
Knowing how to follow an example is useful, but exam questions can look unfamiliar, combine different topics or use tricky wording. Understanding why a method works helps you recognise when and how to apply it, even when the question looks different.
We’ll work through explanations, diagrams and examples together, then turn that understanding into clear steps that make sense to YOU. Textbook explanations didn’t always click for me at GCSE, so I know the value of approaching a topic from another angle - with real world analogies being a huge help to me personally. Maths and physics absolutely require a creative brain not just logic by itself.
Practice is the next step. You’ll have opportunities to try questions yourself, explain your thinking and work through mistakes with support. We’ll use questions relevant to your exam board to build both understanding and confidence.
These subjects haven’t always come easily to me. I often needed more time to grasp a concept than a busy classroom allowed, but I went on to achieve A grades in A-level Maths and Physics and a 79% average in my first year studying Astrophysics at Leeds.
That experience shapes the tutor I want to be: patient, encouraging and willing to explain things differently. In our lessons, you’ll have time to think, ask questions and make sense of things at your own pace.
