About Yousuf

I’m a Chinese and Business Management graduate from the University of Manchester, where I developed a high level of Mandarin fluency through both academic study and real-world experience. I spent a year abroad at Wuhan University in China, achieving an 87% average and HSK Level 5 certification, which is recognised as an advanced level of Chinese proficiency.

Alongside my studies, I gained professional experience working at a Chinese law firm in Beijing, giving me practical language skills in a real working environment in China. I have also worked as a teaching assistant at Huaxia Chinese School in Manchester, where I supported students of different ages and abilities in developing their Mandarin skills.

I hold an A* in A Level Chinese from The Manchester Grammar School, and I am passionate about helping others reach their language goals in a structured, supportive and encouraging way.

About the lesson

My lessons are fully personalised to your goals, level, and pace. Whether you're a complete beginner or brushing up on existing skills, I'll design each session around what you actually need.

A typical lesson might include conversational practice, character writing, grammar explanation, or exam technique, depending on your focus. I always start by understanding where you are and where you want to get to, then build a structured plan from there.

What sets me apart is real-world experience in China. I spent a year abroad at Wuhan University, achieving an 87% average and HSK Level 5 certification, and worked at a Chinese law firm in Beijing, so my teaching goes beyond textbooks. I've also worked as a teaching assistant at a Chinese school in Manchester, so I'm used to adapting to different learners.

Lessons are ideal for students preparing for GCSE or A Level Chinese, adults wanting to build confidence in speaking and listening, and anyone looking to refresh or develop their Mandarin from scratch. All sessions are one to one and delivered online, with flexible scheduling available.
