About Blair
I currently hold a college diploma in Electromechanical Engineering Technician, and have a wide array of skill sets. I am currently completing my BFA in Studio Arts, and am taking university mathematics because I am strong/enjoy mathematics!
During college I was achieving 100% on most of my math and physic class examinations, and eventually was asked by my physics teacher to do some tutoring with a student who was failing. They were in a very difficult position, as they needed to achieve around 75% on the remainder of their tests to pass, but with my help, and alot of work on their part, they ended up passing the class! During that same year I helped another student improve their grade in Physics and their Canadian Electrical Code class.

My tutoring methodology starts with determining the student’s main difficulties and needs in the subject of interest.
During the first class I will ask that the student brings a selection of problems from assignments and tests so that I can gain a better idea of what they are struggling with. During that lesson I will ask the student to attempt to do one of the problems they are struggling with, while I observe to see where they struggle the most. After determining the problem, I will focus on the issue and create examples, and lesson plans which aim to help the student not only understand how to follow mathematical rules, but to understand the main concepts. I think one of the most difficult parts of understanding mathematics and physics is not remembering the rules, but understanding the why behind those rules, in other words, the logic behind the rules.
If the student wishes to continue, I will ask the student to bring their course outline, or a selection of the subjects which will be studied through out the semester so I am able to better prepare examples and lessons for the student.
For me I find mathematics and physics to be really beautiful and interesting, so much so that I bring these subjects into my art practice. I think that it was through art that I really found my strong interest in mathematics and physics (which confuses some people). One of the main things I try to do with students is make the subject more relatable, or more interesting by trying to infuse the lessons with real world examples and ways that the course content can be used to look at the world around them differently.
Mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology are everywhere around us, and it is through learning them that we can open our mind to the beauty of our world!
Thanks for reading to the end, and I look forward to speaking with you
