About Karan
Hey, I’m Karan and I’m studying maths at the university of Nottingham, I’ve always been passionate about maths, the way it can be applied to real life and it’s problem solving elements. I hope to be able to make my lessons fun and engaging, and more importantly for the student to look forward to the lesson rather than seeing it as a chore, my goal is to make the lesson environment an environment of which the student feels like they can constantly ask any question on any topic no matter how “stupid” of a question they think it is, there’s no such thing as a stupid question in maths!
My sessions
I revised for maths by understanding the topic instead of trying to memorise it. In maths it’s crucial you have a deep understanding of the topic rather than learning a step to step method for a specific question, in my lessons i will do an example question and work through it with the student, to try and see where the students misconceptions lie and give the student a better understanding on the topic. Then I will give them a similar question for them to try on their own. Then we will work through progressively harder questions in the same topic.
My experience
I tutored a lot of my friends in maths who went on to do really well in their A levels, so I have some experience in teaching and knowing common misconceptions.
All my questions will be exam styled questions. In my experience maths is about doing loads of questions and gaining confidence instead of relying on the mark scheme.
