About Arshiya
Throughout my schooling, I have consistently excelled across a wide range of subjects, particularly in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, and Calculus. This academic strength is matched by my experience supporting others: I have tutored peers at school, led group study sessions as a prefect, volunteered as a tutor at my temple, and mentored younger students through national organizations such as SADD. These roles have equipped me with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly, adapt to different learning styles, and encourage students to approach challenges with confidence. In addition to my academic and tutoring background, I bring strong communication and leadership skills. I was recognized as one of the top 10 debaters in the Auckland regional competition, awarded 2nd place in a native language speech competition, and have led teams in both academic and extracurricular settings. These experiences have strengthened my confidence in presenting ideas, guiding discussions, and inspiring students to think critically and creatively.

My Approach to Tutoring and Teaching
I take a student-centred approach to tutoring, aiming not only to help students understand their subject matter but also to build confidence and effective study habits.
Techniques and Teaching Methodology:
I begin each session by identifying the student’s specific needs — whether that’s filling gaps in understanding, preparing for an exam, or extending beyond the basics.
I use clear, step-by-step explanations and then guide students through practice questions, encouraging them to “teach back” the concept to ensure mastery.
I incorporate evidence-based learning strategies such as active recall, spaced repetition, and exam-style questions to reinforce retention and exam readiness.
I balance explanation with practice, ensuring lessons are interactive rather than lecture-style.
Typical Lesson Length:
Most lessons run for 60 minutes, which allows enough time to review key concepts, practice problems, and set goals for independent study. For intensive revision or exam prep, I also offer 90-minute sessions.
Qualifications and Experience:
I am currently studying [insert your current degree/programme at AUT], with strong academic results across sciences and maths. I have experience tutoring both high school and first-year university students in subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and introductory Statistics. I also support students with study techniques and exam strategies.
