About Lily

I'm a university student with a Grade 9 in GCSE Mandarin, offering tutoring for students at beginner level and up to GCSE. I’ve supported younger students in primary school, helping them build confidence in speaking, reading, and writing Mandarin. This experience has strengthened my ability to explain concepts clearly and engage with different learning styles. I’m passionate about helping others enjoy language learning and achieve their goals. My approach is patient, encouraging, and tailored to the student’s pace. Whether you're just starting out or need help preparing for exams, I'm here to support you every step of the way. I'm pursuing a career in teaching, so every tutoring session is also a chance for me to grow as an educator. I believe learning works both ways — while I help students understand Mandarin, they also help me improve how I teach.

About the lesson

I focus on creating a friendly, engaging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. I adapt each lesson based on the student’s needs, whether that’s building confidence in speaking, improving vocabulary, or understanding grammar and characters. I use visual aids, everyday examples, and short practice exercises to keep sessions interactive and easy to follow. A typical lesson lasts an hour, depending on the student’s preference and concentration level. I’m a university student with native-level fluency in Chinese, and I’ve tutored younger students at primary school level. Since I achieved a 9 (A* equivalent) in Chinese at GCSE, I currently tutor GCSE and below, including beginners in Key Stage 2 and 3. My lessons are ideal for school students aged 10–16, or for anyone looking to build a solid foundation in spoken and written Mandarin at a beginner or intermediate level.
