I've had the pleasure of performing alongside Derrick in ensembles and orchestras at Camberwell Grammar School. Beyond his skill as a cellist, what has always stood out to me is how naturally he explains and demonstrates techniques to those around him. He makes it easy for learners to understand him, whether he's helping a section work through a tricky passage or breaking down a concept for someone just starting out.
