I possess a bachelor’s degree, an associate’s degree, and a long history of personal interest in reading and literature. I make reading and history fun by sharing my passion and by translating the past into the words and feelings of today. I use my experience working in a museum to showcase art, culture, and history. Understanding literature is easier when you understand the context of its writing. I also have a library of my own with teaching resources. I strive to make the past understandable, inspiring, and most importantly fun! I can teach middle grade literature and reading all the way up to upper high school and intro level college courses. My typical lesson plan starts with the piece of literature that is currently being read. We will assess together what doesn’t make sense and find out what does. Each lesson and tutoring session is unique and personalized to the individual. After assessment, a reading plan is put into place. With questions in place for future sessions and for the student to ask as they read. I don’t set out to create more work, but rather to lighten the load by making a difficult subject easier and more accessible.
