  • When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

I was always a creative kid, loving art, drawing, and painting. At the same time, I was fascinated by math and science, thanks to my dad, an engineer, who helped nurture my love for those subjects through our conversations. I could read floor plans from an early age and was captivated by how spaces were designed, especially through the clever use of IKEA's home setups. It was my sister who suggested I combine these interests and pursue a career in interior design.
In addition to my love for design, I always had a knack for technology. I was the family's go-to problem solver, troubleshooting everything from gadgets to software. Early in my career, I was asked to learn Photoshop as part of my job in Oman, and I self-taught myself the software. When I moved to Canada, my employer recognized my skills in CAD, and soon I was offering guidance to colleagues, including senior staff. This hands-on experience, along with my growing passion for software, led me to want to share my knowledge and teach others, which is how I became inspired to tutor in software programs like CAD, SketchUp, and Photoshop (to name a few)
  • What makes you passionate about your subject?

What excites me the most is the opportunity to solve problems and navigate through challenges. I have a natural knack for software and troubleshooting, and there's something deeply satisfying about working through a problem step by step and finding a solution. This journey of learning and discovery is what fuels my passion for teaching software, especially CAD, SketchUp, and Photoshop. I love the practical side of learning-there's no need for rote memorization, but rather a hands-on, interactive approach where concepts come to life through experience and experimentation. This approach not only helps students grasp the tools but also builds their confidence in applying these skills independently.
  • What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

Although I never initially considered myself a teacher, tutoring has become something I truly enjoy. I love the opportunity to customize lessons to meet each student's needs, which is something platforms like Superprof make possible. I have a strong belief that a solid foundation is key to long-term success, and I focus on making sure my students are confident in the fundamentals before encouraging them to explore and experiment further on their own. I don't believe in just delivering theories; instead, I take an interactive approach that mirrors the process I love-troubleshooting, learning, and growing through practice. This dynamic, adaptable teaching style helps my students truly engage with the material.
  • Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

I've been fortunate to have the unwavering support of several key figures in my life. My dad's beautiful teaching style had a profound impact on me, inspiring my approach toward learning and teaching innovatively. He has also always inspired and motivated me to follow certain great lecturers like Salman Khan and professors from MIT, who teach subjects practically, allowing students to truly get the pulse of the subject. This approach has shaped how I teach today, focusing on making concepts practical and accessible.
Just as important has been the support of my mom and husband. Both have always believed in me and encouraged me to pursue my passions. Their support has been essential in helping me stay grounded, face challenges with confidence, and remain motivated on my journey.
Finally, my employer at my job in Canada was a true leader. She was incredibly patient in teaching us the ropes and had a robust, systemized training module within the firm. Every new joiner was thoroughly oriented, and the training was periodically updated with new tricks and tips. As my skill set was recognized, appreciated, and acknowledged, I became part of this training process, which further reinforced my belief in the power of teaching and sharing knowledge.
  • What are your keys to success?

For me, the key to success lies in having a genuine passion for learning and an eagerness to explore. In today's digital world, information is at our fingertips, and the ability to reach beyond the obvious and dive deeper into a subject is crucial. I believe that success is not just about acquiring knowledge, but about the willingness to embrace challenges and continuously push forward, learning along the way. Being curious, resourceful, and persistent are the driving forces that have led me to where I am today, and I make it a point to instill these values in my students as well.
