About Tan Michael
I am an undergraduate student at the University of Calgary majoring in Computer Science. My major relies heavily on math, and I have taken several math courses as an elective over the past semester. I can teach high school calculus (or math) subjects of any Canadian province. As of now, I have experience in teaching the Alberta Math 31 (calculus) syllabus. I am also an experienced tutor, who can adapt to different curriculums easily. Furthermore, I have a strong familiarity with the Cambridge British patterned mathematics curriculum. Alongside tutoring under the Alberta Math 31 curriculum, I also have hands-on experience teaching the Cambridge-British Patterned curriculum. I love to spark curiosity in my students, and will explain in an easy manner for students to understand. I can guarantee that my lessons are not boring, and will spark creativity in approaching math problems.

I am willing to tutor the subject of mathematics to high school students, and I am able to explain any high school math topics (concepts) in an easy-to-understand manner. My teaching style is often to demonstrate easy and simple (out-of-the-box) solutions to hard complicated math problems. Additionally, I always aim to spark curiosity and creativity in approaching and solving math problems. This makes math fun and enjoyable for students, allowing students to solve and approach math problems differently, encouraging them to innovate different solutions boosting their academic performance. I offer 3 different lesson plans 1. Private Hourly Charge Lesson plan A student gets to pick any math topic they would like to cover in the tutor session. The session will be charged by the number of hours of the agreed session. An overtime of 10 at maximum will be given free of charge, beyond the 10 minutes rates will apply. This plan includes my teaching material, explanation & discussion, and additional problems worksheet. The rate for this lesson plan is 25 dollars an hour. 2. Private Session Charge Lesson plan A student gets to pick any math topic they would like to cover in the tutor session. A session will last for 2 hours, with at most an overtime of 30 minutes given free of charge. This plan includes my teaching material, explanation & discussion, and additional problems worksheet. The rate for this lesson plan is 50 dollars a session. 3. Group Session Charge lesson plan A group of maximum 4 students. The group gets to pick any math topic they would like to cover in the group tutor session. A session will last for 2 hours with at most an overtime of 30 minutes given free of charge. This plan includes my teaching material, explanation & discussion, and additional problems worksheet. The rate per person of this plan is based on the number of people in the group. The rates per person are the following. Group of 2 people 44 dollars per session Group of 3 people 41 dollars per session Group of 4 people 38 dollars per session **Note** All sessions will be conducted in person if in Calgary. It will be held in the agreed location. Otherwise, the session will be held online via Zoom (or similar application). Student (or group) will have to inform me (the tutor) of what topic(s) they want to cover in the tutor session 2 days prior to the agreed date of the session. They will have to share with me the topic(s) in detail, this includes what they've already covered in class, worksheets (with answer key if available), previous homework (with answer key if available), and teaching material covered in school. If a student (or a group) is interested in learning in advance of what is taught in school, they will have to share with me the topic(s) in detail, alongside with math questions associated with the particular chapter. Failure to do so may result in the limited (or not available) of the followings: Teaching material, Explanation & discussion (limited), Additional problem worksheet. The associated fees will still be charged and are not subject to a refund!! Due to my limited knowledge and abilities, the math topics covered are limited to only high school level regardless of the plans.
