About Jonathan

I am an experienced violinist with a strong background in music education. I began playing the violin in second grade and have now accumulated a decade of personal playing experience. Over the years, I've had the privilege of teaching elementary school orchestras for several years, which has not only honed my teaching skills but also deepened my love for music education. My journey in music has also led me to join orchestras and engage in innovative chamber music performances, even venturing into original composition for chamber music. You can find my violin performances on YouTube, a testament to my passion for music. Teaching is not just a profession for me; it's a calling. I believe that sharing my knowledge and experience with aspiring musicians is a way to foster a love for music and inspire the next generation of talented violinists. It's immensely rewarding to see students grow, develop their skills, and find their own love for music through my guidance.

I bring a wealth of experience and passion to my violin tutoring. With a background in teaching elementary school orchestras for several years and a decade of personal experience playing the violin, I have developed a unique approach to help students learn and excel in playing the instrument.

Skills and Teaching Methods:

Foundational Training: My teaching begins with a strong emphasis on mastering the fundamentals of violin playing, including proper posture, bowing techniques, and finger placement. These are essential for building a strong foundation.

Progressive Learning: I structure lessons in a progressive manner, gradually introducing more complex techniques and pieces as students advance. This approach ensures a steady and manageable learning curve.

Music Theory: I incorporate music theory into the lessons, helping students understand the principles behind the music they're playing. This knowledge enhances their ability to interpret and perform pieces with depth and expression.

Performance Experience: Drawing from my extensive performance background, I offer guidance on stage presence, interpretation, and overcoming stage fright, which are valuable skills for any aspiring musician.

Repertoire Selection: I work with students to choose pieces that align with their interests and skill level, making the learning process engaging and enjoyable.

Typical Course Length:

The length of my courses can vary based on the student's objectives and current proficiency level. I offer both short-term intensive courses for rapid skill improvement and long-term programs for comprehensive violin mastery. Course lengths can range from several weeks for a specific skill development to several months for a well-rounded education in violin playing.
