About Sai

I am an Engineer, MBA turned Professional Singer. My father taught me most of my Music. Have started taking proper training since 2020, and trust me it is essential to build a good voice. Currently pursuing 6th year of Hindustani Classical Music. I have won many competitions and have done many stage performances.

About the lesson

This changes according to the student. I design my methods according to their understandings to make it easier for them to cope with the lessons that I give. Being a fresh student makes it easier for me to teach the subject efficiently and effectively.

Sai is wonderful person to learn from. She understands both my strength and weakness and provides suggestions for improving. Always gives encouragement which helps to build confidence. She also explains connection between Bollywood songs and classical music and gives examples, which helps someone like me who has never taken any music lessons. When I suggest a song that is old, or Sai has never heard she carefully listens to the song so that she could help me with it.
Sai is very flexible with class schedule. When I ask her to skip a class or change timing, she worked with me so that we could find mutually convenient time.

How did you develop an interest in this field?
My grandfather was a singer and therefore my father and my paternal uncle started learning music from him. While my uncle continued music as a profession where he had orchestras and made original singles and much more, my dad on the other hand got into business.
But he was always singing every now and then, and so did I. And then this one time without any proper training I participated in a competition, in which i stood first! That is when I realised and slowly developed interest in music.
What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?
I wasn't properly trained until 2020. But when I started learning, I myself realised how much difference a proper training makes. I was born with this voice and i always thought that it was sufficient but after I started learning the basics i came to know that there's a long way to go.
This is the reason why I chose to teach, right from the beginning. Because only a good foundation can help the building to stand up.
How does your work help society?
I think most of the people that i have met, known or talked to ( there are exceptions ) always wished to sing.
So now that I qualify, and that i am certified I really want to spread this knowledge to everyone and give my 2 cents on this job. It makes me very happy learning how some of my students are doing better now.
If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?
I don't have 1 particular name for a role model.
I think there different people who teaches us different things and different styles of music.
But if i have to name a person, it would be my Guruji, Pandit Meghnad Kolhapure. He is hands down the best man, not only in music but also in life as a whole.
He is around 80 years young man (because he is a always happy and cheerful person and better than most of us youngsters) and not only gives me music lessons but also important life lessons.
Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.
Other than teaching music i love learning more music. I like to experiment new things, mixing up raagas and different alankaars.
And apart from music i love swimming. I can stay in water for a whole day. Basically a water baby. :)
Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life ?
Well I have already told you about how i got into music in my first answer.
