About Dale
I am currently studying a Bachelor of Science in Games Development at UTS with a focus on games programming, interaction design and innovation. I have previously studied a Bachelor of Science at USyd, majoring in Physics and Applied Mathematics with first class honours in Physics. I then did 2 years of PhD research in optical simulations of solar cells at the Australian National University in Canberra, but found that academics was not for me, instead deciding to go back and further my programming capabilities properly in a field I find interesting.

As a Physics/Mathematics Alumni from USyd, my focus is on helping students understand the logic of the content they are studying, how that content fits into the bigger picture of the subject at higher levels and what it is that the syllabus is looking for with such a question. I like to focus on making the students consider the why a concept works, not just how, as I find that such a mindset promotes understanding of the content and subject as a whole.
This approach to tutoring works for all kinds of students, be those wishing to pass a subject to those high achievers who wish to gain those few extra marks. Every person enjoys understanding things they previously did not, especially when they can see how it might fit into the higher levels of a subject.
The lesson plans I would prepare are personally tailored to the students weaknesses and previous knowledge. This is done by retracing quizzes/exams that the student has done recently and analysing their mistakes and though processes when they are going through the question. From there, I utilise practice questions to drill the methodology of the content into the student, along with understanding why the steps are done this way and why might you want to even solve this kind of problem.
