About Ashley
My name is Ashley, and I love learning and teaching all things Biology related. I am currently a Microbiology & Immunology PhD student at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, where I am pursuing my passion for science. I also have a B.S. in Biological Sciences with a minor in Digital Marketing from the University of Notre Dame. I have been interested in science my entire life, and growing up was involved in extracurriculars such as Science Olympiad, Biology clubs, Robotics, and more. At Notre Dame, I participated in Cell Biology research for 3 years, presented my research at an international conference, founded a Pre-PhD student club, served on the Biology department's student leadership board, was a Teaching Assistant for Cell Biology, and won two awards for my efforts in research and leadership (Paul F. Ware Excellence in Undergraduate Research Award and Outstanding Student Leader Award). At Vanderbilt, I am currently on the student leadership board for my graduate department.
I have significant experience in both science and leadership, and as a result I believe I have a unique profile and ability to translate and teach science on a level which makes it much easier to understand. I can teach at middle school, high school, and/or collegiate level - whatever is needed, I can assist with.

Why you should learn from me:
- I was a Teaching Assistant for Cell Biology at the University of Notre Dame and am familiar with teaching at a high level
- I have 8+ years of hands-on biology research experience, so I know how to explain concepts in a way that translates to real-world applications
- I love to use similes (aka "the nucleus is like the brain of a cell") to make concepts simpler to understand
- I personally am a visual learner, and will always make an effort to draw out processes and make diagrams for my students whenever possible
- I do not believe in "stupid questions" and have no problem explaining a concept multiple times in different ways for a student
