About Samuel
I am a Vanderbilt physics student who grew up on a farm with horses, goats, and pigs, in Hampshire, IL. My family now happily lives in Lebanon, TN with our three horses, our two dogs, and our cat. I learned the saxophone in 5th grade and from then on have been obsessed with music and jazz. After saxophone, I learned to proficiently play the trumpet, tuba, trombone, clarinet, flute, bassoon, French horn, and piano. I am very passionate about science and music, as I am currently engaged in Undergraduate Research in the Physics department at Vanderbilt and play in the Blair School of Music Big Band.

I have experience individually tutoring students in high school with physics, math, and helping students prepare for college. As well as that, I have worked as a camp counselor at the D300 summer music camp in Algonquin Illinois for middle schoolers. Here, I gave private instruction, and group instruction on technique for all wind instruments (except for oboe and percussion). I taught groups music theory and jazz improvisation.
As a tutor, I make sure to form close bonds with my students and personalize lesson plans for them based on their learning style.
I am willing to tutor anyone from grades 1 - 12 on physics (mechanics, electricity, magnetism), math (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, Calc 1, Calc 2), college prep (looking at schools, preparing essays, etc.), and music (woodwind and brass technique, music theory, composition, jazz improvisation).
