About David
I have lived in the Ascot area for over 20 years and have 2 sons who have now left university. My undergraduate degree was in maths at Aston University and I studied for a PhD at Reading University. I have been tutoring Maths face to face and online for the last 12 years. I lectured mathematics at Reading University to undergraduates and have tutored over 50 GCSE and A-level students with many raising their grades by 2 or more. I can provide many references. I like to work with the knowledge students have on a subject and then build from there. With maths it is at times necessary to re-visit the fundamentals - these can be forgotten as time passes. I have a wealth of information sheets and tips covering the various topics on the syllabus and make use of past papers to prepare students for their exams. I like to discover a students strengths and weaknesses early on and believe my experience helps me with that. I consider myself calm, patient and supportive with students. Lessons are structured to and tailored to meet the student's needs and include a variety of hands-on material and varied learning styles. I've known David for over 25 years. He is a thoroughly reliable person who I've always found very straightforward to work with. Invariably cheerful, always dependable and entirely honest.
His maths tutoring started many decades ago, when he was studying for a PhD. He's an amiable person, with good communication skills and is good at grasping a student's strengths and weaknesses very quickly.
His love of maths has not diminished over the years and he enjoys explaining the beauty of maths to others. And he can make it interesting and indeed fun! For example he has a good selection of maths tricks and puzzles that are both amusing and intriguing and can do a lot to spark an interest in maths where none previously existed.
I have no hesitation in recommending him as a tutor.
