About Theresa

As a veteran educator with more than 20 years of experience, I understand that every child learns differently. Throughout my career, I've served as a classroom teacher, literacy interventionist, instructional coach, district administrator, and national education consultant, helping students and educators achieve meaningful growth.

I specialize in working with students in grades 5 through 9, providing personalized instruction in reading comprehension, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and writing. Every lesson is thoughtfully planned to meet each student's individual needs, using research-based literacy practices that build both skills and confidence.

Parents appreciate that I take the time to understand not only where a student is struggling, but why. By creating a supportive, encouraging learning environment, I help students become more capable, more independent, and more confident readers and writers.

My goal is simple: to help every student experience success while developing the skills they need to thrive in school and beyond.

About the lesson

Every student learns differently, which is why I tailor each lesson to the individual learner. I begin by identifying a student's strengths and areas for growth, then design instruction that builds both skills and confidence. My goal is not simply to help students complete assignments, but to help them become stronger, more independent readers and writers.

With more than 20 years of experience as a classroom teacher, literacy interventionist, instructional coach, district administrator, and national education consultant, I bring a deep understanding of literacy instruction to every session. I specialize in working with students in grades 5 through 9 who need support with reading comprehension, decoding, fluency, vocabulary development, and writing.

A typical lesson includes explicit instruction, guided practice, immediate feedback, and opportunities for students to apply what they've learned through authentic reading and writing. I use high-quality texts and research-based instructional practices while adjusting the pace to meet each student's needs.

What sets me apart is my ability to identify why a student is struggling and develop a personalized plan that addresses the underlying skills—not just the symptoms. I believe students make the greatest progress when they feel supported, challenged, and successful.
