About Sandra

Personality:
Most people would describe me as relaxed, yet energetic. I love teaching and working with people to help them achieve their goals. I love to laugh, learn and try new things - I very much look forward to meeting new people!

Experience:
I have been teaching and tutoring for many years now in a wide variety of subjects. I have worked with school age students to adult to help them find success. For the most part, I have worked with high school students in the humanities (English, Social Studies, History) and in music. I understand that everyone learns differently, and individualized plans are essential for student success.

About the lesson

My lessons are focused on the individual needs of the student. I have plenty of experience with differentiated learning and can create an approach that will work best for you.

A typical lesson will therefore be based on student need. If the focus is on building ESL skills such as reading, writing, speaking and listening, the lesson will consist of mini-lessons, check in's and ongoing reflection on personal learning. It will end with homework for the week (or until the next session), where, if students have questions before the next lesson, they can email or text for clarification or help.

I have been teaching since the mid-2000's and have completed two bachelor's degrees and a master's degree in education. I am currently working on a PhD in Education. I have plenty of experience working with students of all ages - including adults!

I can work with ESL students at all levels and with academic English students from grade 4 to university level.
