About Valery
My experience is both wide and varied; for five years I lead post production for a full service production house in NYC, and have over two decades of professional experience as an independent contractor. In addition to my commercial experience, I am also a fine art video artist with an extensive gallery record, and currently work at a university where I teach and tutor grad students and fellow faculty in cutting edge software and digital media techniques.

I approach my tutoring like a mentorship. I pride myself on learning where a student is and what they hope to achieve in order to cater my lessons to meet their specific needs.
I can create structured lessons based around a specific skill or technique, like learning how to properly composite green screens, or best practices for how edit for a genre of video. I am also able to offer support for supplemental software programs that editors often rely on, like sound editing programs, photoshop, or illustrator.
Regardless of your current skill level, if you have a strong interest in improving your video editing skills, then I can help you get there. You might be starting out and wanting help with how to set up a project from scratch, or you might have an existing project and are looking for feedback on how to improve it and get it in a polished finished state.
I love meeting new people and helping them grow. As your tutor, I hope to make sure you are challenged at a pace that is manageable, and are working toward a goal that you feel motivated to achieve.
