About Tim
I've a theatre career of over 25 years, and have been a freelance video designer for over 15 years, making work all over the UK and internationally.
I tutored technical theatre students for over 8 years and continue to offer in person and online workshops in video for live performance.
I've a passion for video and the power of editing, and love to share this with those learning these tools. I'm in theatre to help tell stories, and believe that technology can help us all tell each other stories of the world and our lives in the world.

I've worked with students of technical theatre for over 8 years and continue to teach workshops in video design for live performance.
I've taught the use of video software online, and collaborated with colleagues online to make work, editing and refining material for use in shows or as self contained short films.
While making video for live performance has its own requirements, the same software and skills can be used to create video art, films and effects for all manner of audiences.
I take a practical approach to learning, working step by step with you from the first use of the software to the final output.
Our lessons can be tailored to the software you use and the creative goals you have. For example we might start in Photoshop, then take the results into After Effects before editing the final sequence into a Final Cut Pro project.
Lessons can be an hour or longer if it suits your learning style.
I provide training for anyone 18 or over who is:
- a complete beginner with the software
- a user of similar software looking to transfer their skills
- an intermediate user looking to round out their knowledge
I can cover :

Adobe After Effects
Adobe Photoshop
QLab (for Video)
Apple Motion
Sketchup
And I can focus on how to use these tools together, as often some work on a project may start in one piece of software and move to another.
