About Loretta
Have you ever wondered how 10 years of full-time teaching changes the way an instructor views violin technique? My Bachelor of Music from the Cleveland Institute of Music provides the foundation for my approach. I specialize in spiccato and staccato bowing alongside left-hand agility.
Double stops are a regular part of my technical drills. I prioritize tuning by ear and intonation in every practice session. Developing sight reading and ear training is how we maintain steady progress. My work with regional chamber ensembles informs my method.

Since technique is the language of music, I view the 10 years I spent in youth symphonies as the primary dialect I teach. I often record playback of tricky passages for home practice to ensure you grasp the nuance of complex measures.
This 10.0 level of detail helps students visualize the physical motions required for professional tone production. Having studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music, I emphasize structural clarity and careful listening in every practice block.
My background allows me to pinpoint exactly where your bow pressure or finger placement might be causing a lapse in sound quality. We will work through the mechanics until the logic of the piece becomes intuitive. You will hear the improvement in your own playback immediately. This is how we build a bridge to the audition room.
