About Hui

I am a professional violinist and tenured member of the Las Vegas Philharmonic, with additional orchestral experience performing with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra, Phoenix Symphony, and other professional ensembles.

Throughout my musical career, I have had the pleasure of performing in a wide variety of settings, from symphony concerts to collaborations with internationally renowned artists, including Sheryl Crow, Andy Grammer, The Eagles, The Beach Boys, and Martina McBride.

I have also taught at the Alabama School of Fine Arts (ASFA) First Note Strings program, helping young musicians discover the joy of playing a string instrument.

While I take musical excellence seriously, I believe that a wonderful teacher should also be patient, approachable, and encouraging. I love working with students of different ages and abilities, and nothing makes me happier than seeing a student gain confidence, overcome a challenge, or discover something beautiful in music.

My goal is not simply to teach students how to play the violin, but to help them develop a lifelong appreciation for music, curiosity, creativity, and the confidence to learn independently.

I look forward to sharing my love of music with you!

About the lesson

I believe that learning the violin should be a joyful, inspiring, and rewarding experience!

I am a tenured member of the Las Vegas Philharmonic and have also performed locally with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra and Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra. I have taught at the Alabama School of Fine Arts (ASFA) First Note Strings program, where I had the pleasure of introducing young students to the wonderful world of music alongside incredible colleagues.

As a teacher, I am very patient and encouraging. I believe that music should be enjoyed, and that the process of learning is just as important as the final result!

My lessons are thoughtfully tailored to each student’s individual needs, interests, and pace, whether they are picking up the violin for the first time or looking to advance their skills.

I especially enjoy helping students develop their own problem-solving abilities. Rather than simply telling students what to do, I encourage them to think independently, experiment, ask questions, and discover solutions together with me.

Mistakes are a natural part of learning, and I believe that every challenge is an opportunity to grow!

Above all, I strive to create a warm, relaxed, and supportive learning environment where students feel confident, motivated, and excited to make music. My hope is that every student leaves their lesson not only having learned something new, but also looking forward to the next one!

My daughter started violin under Hui when she was 8. We were so sad when she moved away but continued online! Hui is incredibly patient and kind. My daughter really enjoys lessons with her and went from being a total beginner to playing in the youth orchestra. Your child will learn a great deal while enjoying the lessons.
