About Katherine
I hold a Bachelor of Music in String Studies and a Master of Music in Violin Performance. During my 7 years of teaching, I have worked with students ranging from complete beginners to developing performers. My interest in teaching began through mentoring younger musicians and helping them overcome technical challenges. These experiences inspired me to build a career focused on supporting musical growth.
I believe successful learning comes from understanding each student's individual needs. My teaching style combines structured technique development with encouragement and flexibility. Students receive personalized guidance that helps them build confidence while improving essential violin skills. I emphasize strong foundations because they create long-term success. Lessons are designed to be productive, positive, and enjoyable.
Beyond teaching, I enjoy chamber music, score study, and exploring different performance traditions. These interests enrich my understanding of music and inspire fresh approaches to instruction. Seeing students regain confidence and achieve goals they once considered difficult is deeply satisfying. I strive to create a welcoming environment where learners feel comfortable exploring their musical potential. Helping students enjoy the violin is one of the most rewarding parts of my profession.

My violin lessons are designed to support students who want to strengthen their playing while enjoying a calm and encouraging learning environment. I focus on tone production, bow control, posture, intonation, and musical phrasing through practical exercises that build confidence gradually. Students learn how small improvements can create noticeable results over time. Every lesson balances technical development with musical enjoyment, ensuring that learners remain motivated throughout the process.
For students returning to music after a break, lessons include gentle review, open-string exercises, slow scale practice, and confidence-building activities. Those experiencing performance anxiety receive guidance on preparation techniques, relaxation strategies, and performance mindset development. I also incorporate rhythm training, ear development, and expressive interpretation to strengthen overall musicianship. Lessons move at a comfortable pace while maintaining clear goals and measurable progress.
My aim is to help students reconnect with music in a positive and rewarding way. As skills improve, learners develop greater confidence in their ability to perform and express themselves. Music becomes less stressful and more enjoyable. Every lesson is built around patience, encouragement, and steady progress. I want students to feel supported as they continue growing as violinists.
