About Gemma
Training in the German tradition for 8 years has shaped how I view the instrument. You will find that I prioritize the structural integrity of your playing above all else. My approach remains slow and deliberate to ensure that your foundations stay solid over time.
I work with students focusing on vibrato, tone production, and intonation. Developing left hand agility and bowing technique is central to my methodology. Over the years, I have guided many pupils through ABRSM or Trinity grade exam prep and classical repertoire. Music theory is integrated into our work to clarify the internal logic of the pieces we study.

Opening the first lesson involves a careful assessment of your current hold and bow grip. We immediately address the mechanics of your posture to prevent future fatigue.
A clear, physical connection to the string is established during this initial meeting. Weekly practice modules are assigned with every class to anchor your progress.
You will tackle intonation and tuning by ear as a routine discipline. My degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music informs the way I break down complex scores.
We treat sonatas and partitas as technical bedrock for your development. The pace is set to ensure that your technique is built correctly. This 8.0 point focus on precision keeps our work methodical and unhurried throughout the semester.
