About Greta

I am a kind, dedicated artist and teacher with an MS in Art Education from Pratt Institute and have K-12 experience working in a studio classroom setting, helping students develop their creative voice and potential. I've been teaching art to kids for about 4 years now. I have experience helping middle school students with applying to New York City's specialized art high schools, observation / figure drawing and painting with high school students, and exploring different art materials and techniques with all ages.

About the lesson

I approach my teaching based on the student's interests, what they would like to accomplish and how they learn best. Based off this information, the student and I can brainstorm projects that sound interesting and can build upon their art-making skills. During instruction, I will model and be direct with specific techniques as well as asking the student questions to guide the creation process. As a process-oriented artist and teacher, I aim to encourage patience with the artistic process and oneself, as I know we can be our own worst critic.
