From my experience in academia, I feel the importance of knowledge production is in the dialectic between students and teacher. I do not rely on a linear approach of the lecturer imparting knowledge to an assumed 'blank slate' (the student). Instead we create from the knowledge between us. I have worked as a practising artist, exhibited in several parts of the world, as well as being a researcher and classroom teacher/lecturer. This allows me insight into the line of work that students in the arts are preparing for in academia and in the wider artworld. I have supervised students at masters level who have graduated cum laude and gone on to become established art practitioners with a solid insight into contemporary theory. I am driven by the intellectual growth in the artists (students) and how the power of thinking critically and creatively can inform and open consciousness to deeper meaning and change, in a fast-paced society covered in glossy veneers and filters, promising instant gratification. With that said, contemporary culture and the energy of youth culture inspires my work. I have had the privilege to work internationally and continue to mentor some of my former students who have gone on to prestigious Universities such as La Sorbonne. I enjoy working with individuals as well as with large groups of people in collective projects such as art interventions, curating, symposiums, workshops and social justice activism. My academic skills are multidisciplinary. I am deeply committed and engaged with the curriculum to keep pace with contemporary global events in the art world, and for example how today's technology excavates new discoveries that change and challenge the way we understand the world and, more especially, how we navigate the world of representation. I am dedicated to hone the development of each individual's personal and professional progress and support cultivating their individual expression by identifying the strength of each.

Simmi cares about the developing mind and is totally engaged with effective communication in a teaching context.
I have known her for over a decade during which time she has displayed a compassionate, open honest, and trustworthy nature. In her work she is professional, thorough and passionate about arts and culture. A pleasure to know, and to recommend.
Simmi is an inspiring teatcher, she has cultivated a love for language and art in me. She is friendly, warm and engaging and has great confidence in her students. Simmi’s teaching is deep and reflective. Her independence, bravery and challenge of all that has an opressive influence on empowerment and life in general has given me the courage and desire to work with my own expression through art. Thanks a lot Simmi!
I've had the incredible honour of teaching with Simmi and I've learned so very much from her! A generous and warn soul who cares about our world with passion and vigour! Simmi is the daughter of revolutionaries and is one herself.
As a fellow South African I am eternally grateful for the legacy that Simmi and her family represent. Simmi is much, much more than a drawing lessons SuperProf, she brings a very rich and exciting history and perspective to any context she participates in as an educator and intellectual.
As a fellow visual arts educator who taught as a freelance lecturer in various creative contexts - including graphic design, animation, digital media and visual arts - I can't think of too many people I'd love to be taught by, and Simmi would be one of those. She taught me as an older colleague, friend and fellow lecturer, and I am eternally grateful to her for this.
If you are interested in interesting people, Simmi is one of the most interesting people I know, and as a South African, activist, artist and designer - I know quite a lot of very interesting people.
I highly recommend her for drawing lessons and any creative medium she chooses to teach.
Definitely a five-star rating from me.
Simmi Dullay is an inspiring and passionate artist whose work & ideas have inspired my work and countless others. One of my most sought-after works was inspired by a conversation with her. I know Dullay from her work within art and academia and recommend her to anyone who is not afraid to be challenged in order to grow in their artistic practice.
Simmi has long been a treasured mentor and role model to me as an artist and creative practitioner. Her dedication to the arts and the production of knowledge is peerless and her experience as both an accomplished Visual Artist and academic makes her an invaluable source of knowledge, guidance and inspiration to anyone seeking to broaden and develop their artistic skills and senses.
