About Ieva Anna

I grew up on stage, participating in multiple projects alongside some of the greatest Latvian and world-class musicians. I was 5 years old. I started teaching at a very early age, around 15, when I took responsibility for a vocal group of kids.

In 2019, I graduated from PIKC LMMDV (The Centre of Competency-Based Professional Education Liepāja Music, Art and Design Secondary School) in Latvia. I received a diploma that qualifies me as a jazz and popular music singer and band coach. I began studying for my bachelor's degree in Barcelona, Spain, at Taller de Músics—one of the best private jazz, modern music, and flamenco universities. Now, I am continuing my studies in Tallinn.

I practiced my vocal technique with several great masters: in Latvia with Jolanta Gulbe-Paškeviča, in Spain with Carola Ortiz, and in Estonia with Susanna Aleksandra Veldi and Kadri Voorand. They have provided me with knowledge about musical elements, techniques, and their diversity. Because of them, I have traveled and gathered information. I have participated in competitions, concerts, festivals, and even performed on cruise ships.

About the lesson

I have carefully developed my approach, adapting to each individual, providing students with the most understandable way of teaching the language of music. I have tools to help overcome and heal the fear of public performance, as well as to open up and accept one's authenticity. This includes psychological aspects and vocal health.

For warming up:
I begin my lessons with breathing techniques and exercises for physical endurance, which involve not only facial and tongue muscle exercises but also core workouts and general body posture improvement.
The next task is to find the correct vocal placement and strengthen the vocal folds using specific exercises.

Working on a song:
Typically, the student brings a song of their choice. We then work on the material, focusing on vocal resonance, phrasing, emotion cards, articulation, diction and pronunciation, vocal runs and agility, dynamics, pitch accuracy, stylistic techniques and embellishments, modes/scales, rhythmic patterns, chord progressions, and improvisation.

I work with all levels, starting from beginners up to advanced students and professional singers who seek advice. My teaching can begin with children as young as first grade.
