About Joicy

Hello! I’m Joicy Carvalho, a lyric coloratura soprano from Brazil with a strong background in both performance and vocal education. My musical journey began early—I received my first formal training in voice and clarinet during high school through a technical music program. I played clarinet in symphonic bands and developed a deep love for classical music and ensemble work. For over 8 years, I was a member of the Young Symphonic Choir of Goiás, and from 2018 to 2023, I sang in the Professional Choir of the City of Goiânia, one of the most respected vocal ensembles in my region. During that time, I had the honor of performing as a soloist in major symphonic works by composers like Handel, Beethoven, and Schubert. These experiences gave me not only technical skills, but also a deep understanding of vocal performance, musical collaboration, and stage presence. I bring this knowledge into every lesson I teach—whether you’re just beginning or preparing for auditions. My training is grounded in classical technique, but I also explore other styles like MPB, musical theater, and pop with students who want to grow in different directions. My goal is to help you build a healthy voice, express yourself with confidence, and truly enjoy the process. Outside of music, I love learning new languages, playing sports, and exploring all kinds of art. I enjoy making new friends and discovering different cultures from around the world!

About the lesson

Hi! I’m Joicy, and my goal as a voice teacher is to help you sing in a healthy, confident, and expressive way. I always adapt the lessons to you—your voice, your style, and your goals.

My background is in classical singing (I have a Master’s in Voice Performance from the U.S. and a Bachelor’s from Brazil), but I also work with Brazilian music, musical theater, and pop. So whether you're working on an aria, an MPB song, or your favorite musical, I’m here to guide you with technique and musicality.

In a typical lesson, we’ll start with some breathing and vocal warm-ups, then move into music you love or want to work on. We’ll focus on things like support, phrasing, expression, and style—all in a way that makes sense for you. I can also help with diction, performance tips, and audition prep.

I work with all levels—from beginners to more experienced singers. Whether you sing just for fun or you're preparing for a concert or conservatory audition, I’ll meet you where you are and help you grow.

My teaching is based on care, respect for your voice, and a love for the music we make. Let’s work together to build your voice and your confidence!
