About Nicola

Piano music became my obsession because of the complex mechanics involved in sight transposition and scales. I earned my MM in Vocal Pedagogy from Yale to understand how music functions at a foundational level.

Many students I work with feel frustrated by memorization techniques, so I teach the long way first until the logic holds firm. My approach ensures that you will feel confident because we prioritize depth over speed. You can expect a structured environment where your specific goals are met with clarity.

Diagnostic playing assessment is the only way to build a real plan. I look at your sight playing and arpeggios before we write a single goal on the board. My background in vocal pedagogy allows me to hear the phrasing in your piano work quite clearly. We will move at a pace that ensures you grasp the technical requirements of every piece.

By using my Yale training, I will guide you toward a better understanding of how your hands interact with keys. Piano study should feel like a satisfying puzzle rather than a chore. The process of uncovering the musical structure is quite fun.
