About Remi
Hi! I’m Remi, a Japanese native speaker born in Japan and raised between Japan, Singapore, and the United States. I moved to the U.S. in 2012, so I know firsthand how challenging and exciting learning a new language can be. When I was learning English, I struggled a lot in the beginning, and that experience shaped the way I want to teach Japanese. Learning should feel fun, comfortable, and useful, not intimidating!
I have a bachelor’s degree in Film and TV Arts, so if you’re interested in Japanese movies, anime, music, television, fashion, food, or pop culture, I’d love to incorporate those interests into our lessons.
I’m new to teaching, and I’m excited to learn and grow alongside my students! Let’s have fun, make mistakes, ask lots of questions, and discover Japanese together :)

My lessons are thoughtful, flexible, and personalized to you. I want to get to know who you are, what you enjoy, and what you want to achieve with Japanese. Whether you’re starting from zero or already have some experience, we’ll work at a pace that feels right for you.
Rather than focusing on textbooks and memorization, I want to help you actually use Japanese in real life. We can practice natural conversations, everyday expressions, pronunciation, cultural nuances, and the little things that you might not learn from a textbook.
