About Betty
French is part of a five-year tutoring career during which I have taught 220 students, many of them adult beginners exploring a new language later in life. My warm, patient teaching style shapes how I introduce difficult concepts, treating mistakes as useful information rather than something to apologize for. Many students arrive convinced they simply lack a talent for languages, and helping them discover real progress within a handful of sessions is genuinely rewarding. I remain available between lessons for quick questions, since steady momentum matters enormously early on. Watching hesitant beginners speak with real confidence remains deeply satisfying to me.

My French lessons prioritize spoken confidence from the very first meeting, encouraging students to attempt full sentences even before every grammar rule feels fully secure. Grammar is introduced through patterns students notice themselves in conversation rather than memorized tables presented in isolation. Vocabulary is grouped around topics students genuinely care about, since personal relevance consistently improves both retention and enjoyment of lessons over time. The atmosphere stays relaxed throughout, treating mistakes as a completely normal part of learning rather than something to fear or hide. Every session ends with a short informal conversation entirely in French, applying what was just learned in a low-pressure way.
