About Antonia
I am Chilean and American, my family is Chilean, so my first language is Spanish. I moved to the US a little more than 3 years ago, without knowing any English. My first months were very difficult because I was so focused on the little English I had been taught in school in Chile that I thought that to speak and be understood I had to say everything perfectly, so before speaking I thought a thousand times and repeated the sentence in my head asking myself if this was correct, and so I could not have a conversation with someone. Until I let go of my fears and started to speak without caring if I said it perfectly, I just wanted to be understood, and then little by little listening to others and repeating myself I improved a lot. Also, my boyfriend is from England so it helped me a lot more to improve my English. So from my own experience, it's just allowing yourself to be wrong.

It can be anything you want, learning a new language doesn't have to be completely the same for everyone, everyone learns in different ways. We can talk about what you like to do, your favorite movie, your plans for the future, a trip you took or plan to take, or just how your day is. The most important thing is to feel comfortable and confident, there is nothing wrong with making mistakes. It's just taking that little leap out of your comfort zone.
