About Betsy
With 7 years of piano teaching experience and nearly 300 students trained, I offer lessons that are engaging, structured, and tailored to each student’s individual goals. I work with high school students, college learners, and adults to help them improve technical skills, build musicality, and gain performance confidence.
My teaching philosophy emphasises consistency, discipline, and expressive playing, focusing on posture, hand coordination, finger independence, scales, chord transitions, rhythm, sight-reading, and interpretation. Lessons are adapted to each student’s learning pace, with practical strategies for home practice to ensure continuous growth.
Many of my students have performed successfully in recitals, school concerts, and competitions, while others have achieved high distinctions in graded examinations. I aim to create a supportive and motivating environment where students feel confident, inspired, and empowered to reach their full potential.

My piano teaching philosophy emphasises adaptability, encouragement, collaboration, and flexibility. I design lessons that match each student’s abilities and goals. I work on essential skills such as proper hand positioning, rhythm precision, scale fluency, and expressive phrasing.
I divide difficult pieces into smaller sections to ensure steady progress. Flexibility allows me to modify pacing according to the student’s comfort and improvement level. Through collaboration, students feel involved in their learning journey and motivated to practise consistently.
I maintain a positive environment where effort is recognised and improvement is celebrated. In addition to piano, I also teach music theory, ear training, and sight-reading to deepen musical understanding.
