About Julisa

Personal info:
-I am a current art college student at the Academy of art University so I value taking pride in one's passion.
-I myself is a contralto who can reach soprano 2.
-I personally have done singing for almost my entire life starting at four years old singing gospel a cappella with my mother and two sisters.
-I also do not yell or argue during sessions and make all my points clear upfront. If the student does not want to cooperate I will not force it and will try to move to a different lesson or cut the session short for that day allowing them to sit and destress for the remainder of the session.
-I also have a no judgment policy I follow strictly. No matter if it is on music genre or any other aspect. I am there to make it a safe place to learn and express one's self.
- I also am certified in first aid, cpr and AED. So I do watch for any drastic changes while in session especially on students that I know have conditions that could affect breathing.

In general I have worked with a wide variety of people in age, class, ethnicity and Self identifying orientation. I will respect and special situations anyone has. I just would like to be told up front if relevant.

About the lesson

How I usually run my sessions:
-I always make sure to listen to those I teach and come up with fun exercises to make lessons enjoyable.
-I do talk about things to do to help improve performance.
- I teach breath control
-I even make up songs to help with memory and learning.
- I will change approach based on the student and adjust as we progress.
-For long sessions I allow food breaks. Shorter there will be shorter small breaks to not over work the voice. On breaks I will even provide fun music facts if the student wants to know. Even allowing them to show me some of their own personal song's they like so we can study and talk about the creation process. I may even include their personal picks for some practice at home.

Overall info:
My lessons are very beginner friendly especially because I value understanding and refreshing basics at beginning on every session. I can do evaluations on all I teach to see where the student is and adjust accordingly. However that does not mean I can't teach advanced. Especially when it comes to vocal control I can teach rapid tone shifts and octave jumps. I can also teach to sing from different points in the body to affect the sound of one's voice. I will encourage more advanced students to extend their range and hopefully hit another octave comfortably and sustainably. I will also teach volume control.
Overall I try to make sure my students take pride in their work and enjoy the progress made.

I have only two main rules.
-Be respectful and kind to one's self and me.
-Please only bring room temperature or hot drinks to lessons (preferably water) for the best condition of one's voice.
