About Alf

I am a physicist by training (PhD - Nuclear Physics, 1989). I worked as a scientist in project management and production management in industry. For the last 20 years I worked in fixed income asset management. Throughout my career I have developed and used mathematical models, which is one of my passions. Another is explaining physics and math concepts to those who are keen to understand these things.

About the lesson

I like to work around examples and problems, as these are the best way to develop understanding. You will learn how to approach and solve problems without an over-emphasis on remembering facts and formulae. I like to explain concepts in everyday language, either face-to-face in online-video conferencing, or in electronic chat-style communication. We work at your speed; education is not a race!

He was always willing to spend the additional time necessary to promote understanding for me and was able to provide different explanations for concepts that may be more difficult to understand. Alf displayed great attention to detail, picking up minor errors as well as detecting when my understanding wasn't quite there.
