About Emeric

Hi there,

I'm Emeric, and the world of Wine & Spirits is a genuine passion

This passion for wine and spirits has evolved over the years, moving from the field to teaching.

My journey began at a Bordeaux wine estate, then I founded my own wine shop, and more recently took on a sommelier management role in fine dining in Australia — a rich experience that allows me to approach wine from a theoretical, professional, and human perspective alike.

WSET 2 & 3 graduate with distinction (WSET 4 Diploma currently in progress), as well as CMS Introductory & Certified (Oceania).

For more than 5 years, coaching colleagues in their exam preparation has been an integral part of my life: over 15 people trained, with an 87.5% pass rate with distinction (WSET 2 and 3 combined).

This hands-on experience has helped refine a concrete, progressive methodology, tailored to each level and each learner's profile.

Coaching available in both French and English (bilingual).

About the lesson

For each level, a methodology tailored to the person and the exam.

Every session starts with a quiz or a mock exam.

WSET 1 — Discover

- Get familiar with the main grape variety families and wine styles
- Understand the key stages of viticulture and winemaking
- Learn to describe a wine simply and know the basics of storage and service

Methodology: learning through simple repetition and contextualization — basic flashcards, visual associations, no unnecessary rote memorization.

Exam: Multiple choice (30 questions) — 45 min

WSET 2 — Structure

- Connect grape varieties, regions, and winemaking techniques
- Identify and compare wine styles from the main international and regional grape varieties
- Understand how environmental factors, viticulture, winemaking, and maturation influence style and quality

Methodology: first summary sheets by grape variety/region, label-reading practice, guided tasting to ground theory in practice.

Exam: Multiple choice (50 questions) — 1 hour

WSET 3 — Master

- Master the WSET III reasoning framework: the natural and human factors that determine a wine's price, quality, and style
- Apply the Systematic Approach to Tasting (SAT) to turn the exercise into a natural reflex

Methodology: mind mapping to visualize regions, summary tables, advanced flashcards for memory retention, exam time management, and short-answer question decoding to optimize your score.

Exam:

- Multiple choice (50 questions)
- Short written answer questions (4 questions, 25 points each)
- Blind tasting (2 wines) — 30 min
