About Gerardo
I am a dedicated Venezuelan-born American resident enrolled at the University of Florida in the class of 2029 planning to major in Mathematics. Ever since I was a kid in Caracas, Math astonished me, even though it was not an opinion my classmates reciprocated. My family and I moved to Costa Rica in 2015, where I furthered my Math knowledge and continued my studies. Recently, in 2022, my family moved to the United States, where the whole world of AP and AICE tests, as well as the SAT, shocked me! Fortunately, I was able to adapt and succeed in my academic endeavors, graduating from High School in the top 5% of the class (Summa Cum Laude) with a 5.103 weighted GPA and 4.000 unweighted GPA. I am interested in space exploration, mathematics, economics, and engineering. Before you think I am only a Math-obsessed geek, I am glad to inform you that I have other hobbies; I enjoy fishing, watching soccer, and going to the gym. I hope to hear from you soon!

TEACHING METHOD AND TECHNIQUES
My teaching methods depend on the student. I understand many people take tutoring classes for different reasons; from requiring help for a particular part of the syllabus to needing a complete explanation of a class. No matter what you need, I will assist you. I am someone who is laser-focused on success and results. My teaching method would involve reviewing the syllabus content and going over past exams since this is what will make you succeed in any course you take. I will teach you what you must know and break down explanations step-by-step, welcoming any questions you may have along the way. More formally, I enjoy these methods, among others:
● Socratic Questioning: a technique used to challenge and
deepen understanding by asking thoughtful, open-
ended questions.
● Direct Instruction: Teacher-led explanations using examples,
followed by guided practice.
TYPICAL LESSON PLAN
Varies by student. There is no particular schedule. I will teach you what you need me to teach you; from the fundamental theorem of calculus to derivative applications. Typical lesson plan
1. Introduction/Warm-Up: Quick review of prior content and
chatting in general.
2. Goal Setting: Stating the learning objective or what you need
help with
3. Core Concept Teaching: Step-by-step explanation of
concepts
4. Practice: Independent challenge and/or guided practice of
real questions related to your course (AP past papers,
etc)
5. Recap and Q&A: I will answer any questions you may have
and summarize key takeaways
WHAT SETS ME APART?
I am going to be real since you are probably a student close to my age. I am not gonna say I am an expert tutor or anything, because I am not, and I am not gonna lie. What I can say is that I know math, and I love math. My tactics have worked in all my math classes; also, teachers and fellow students have encouraged me to get into the world of tutoring since I have been successful at quickly grasping and helping fellow students when they were struggling. I will do my best, with the tactics I have learnt through the years, to make you ace those exams!
WHO ARE THE LESSONS FOR?
I have succeeded and have experience in, and can tutor, students in the following classes:
1. AP Calculus AB (Got a 5 and a school award for this class)
2. AP Calculus BC
3. AP Statistics
4. Pre-Calculus
5. SAT Math section (Got 780)
I am also vastly knowledgeable in the following topics and classes:
1. Trigonometry, Algebra, Geometry, etc
2. AICE A Level Economics (I got an A in the AICE test -> the first
in my school's history)
3. AICE AS Level Physics
Students can range from elementary to High School students. I can tutor anything math-related until the end of High School. Be sure to let me know what topics and/or classes you want tutoring for.
