About Caitie
Hi! I’m Caitie, a tutor who is committed to being your biggest cheerleader! I am extremely proud to have developed genuinely positive relationships with tutees over my educational career, and truly enjoy getting to play a small role in helping them unlock their potential. With an academic and professional background in History and Politics, I am looking forward to helping you wrap your head around these criminally underrated subjects (including Modern Studies, Scottish folk!). I also have experience and an interest in providing general study skills support, UCAS guidance and careers tutoring. Outside of tutoring, I recently finished my Human Rights and International Politics postgraduate degree, where I specialised in gender and women’s rights. I enjoy volunteering and work in civil society. In my free time, I love to read, try to run (often quite unsuccessfully) and enjoy consuming reality tv through a critical lens.

My students and I are a team! It would be my worst nightmare to position myself as above a student. I take a person-centred, egalitarian and individualised approach to tutoring. Working in partnership with students, I seek to adapt my delivery techniques in order to suit your learning styles, giving you agency and respect in your own learning. I’m up for being as creative and non-traditional, or as bog-standard as you like in terms of lesson planning and work. What works for each student can be vastly different, so I prioritise taking a flexible, adaptable approach to teaching in order to allow for this. I’m conscious too that goals also differ widely. With a broad background and experience working on a range of educational challenges and opportunities, I am confident that we will be able to work together on whatever it is you would like some extra support in. I can offer the following services, however if you would like help with something else, don’t hesitate to get in touch. - History (up to early university-level, specialism in Scottish education system). - Modern Studies or Politics (up to early university-level, specialism in Scottish education system). - Proofreading and editing support for one-off assignments, essays, coursework and dissertations. - Study skills and exam abilities support. - Application support for school, college and university applications, helping to review personal statements and application materials. - Employability tutoring - help with CVs, Cover Letters, job hunting. - Interview prep - for educational and professional interviews. I want to help you succeed yourself and equip you with skills and knowledge to carry forward with you.
