About Thomas
I have a deep love of theology, philosophy, and religion. My specialism is in Church history, and particularly Early English Church history, but I am able to teach a wide range of theological topics.
My undergraduate dissertation specialised in myth and the Hebrew Bible, but I have done courses in spiritual theology, church history, global Christianity, New and Old Testament studies, and Doctrine.
In addition to the world of theological knowledge, I am also very proficient in research and writing. Whilst academic writing is my forte, I have spent a lot of time writing about theology in informal settings too such as for The Catholic Herald newspaper, and for blogs.

In my lessons I like to help students understand ideas and concepts as malleable things to be discussed, worked through, and critiqued. This means active discussions and debates, as well as focused and targeted learning and revision.
I am a qualified teacher, and so I am able to tailor my teaching to your needs. If understanding the core content and ideas of theology is what you are struggling with, I can help and explain. If essay writing or research for theology is a hurdle for you, this is something our lessons can focus on.
I am open to help tutor those doing undergraduate Theology degrees, and we can discuss what you are succeeding at, and what you are struggling with. I am also open to helping adults for whom a degree is not an option, but just wish to learn more about Theology and/or Church History either as an academic pursuit or as a hobby.
